Betsy Lehman Center for Patient Safety

The Betsy Lehman Center is a non-regulatory Massachusetts state agency that conducts research and analysis, convenes experts and stakeholders, and disseminates information to support providers, patients, and policymakers working together to advance the safety and quality of health care in all settings

To increase awareness of medical error as a persistent threat to public health in Massachusetts and to catalyze and accelerate the pace of improvement, the Center:

· Aggregates, analyzes, and publishes data on patient safety risks and trends

· Convenes expert panels and collaborative learning activities

· Develops tools and provides technical assistance to advance safety improvement initiatives and programs supporting patients and providers affected by medical error

· Conducts a program of strategic communications and dissemination
